DIXIE AYERS

(Kirchhoff) 28" EE Re Ex Dor 5". This special daylily is
named for a special daylily friend from Georgia who delights everyone
with her keen humor and fine eye for good daylilies. It is also a favorite
of garden visitors. Though displaying dormant plant habit, it performs
here as well as most evergreens. The vivid red eyezones and bright red
edges (flecked gold), splashed onto sorbet orange colored petals, are
intense and punctuated by yellow to green throats. An early morning
opener, the form is symmetrical, overlapped, and wide open with sepals
slightly recurved. Sparkling with diamond dusting and firm substance
these blooms remain fresh all day. The strongly recurrent scapes produce
multitudes of showy blooms. A fine parent - moderately pod fertile and
very fertile pollen.
