It was late in the bloom season when our friend, the late Dan Canner, stopped by, bringing with him delicious homemade truffles, fresh from wife Jackie Canner's kitchen. He chose this intensely saturated, glossy red bitone, he said, for its cheerful color that stood out above all the daylilies in bloom that day. The sepals contrast in varying shades of red-orange. A thin-to-wide yellow edge accompanies petals and sepals. Red veins radiate outward across the green throat and orange watermark - feathered into a yellow to green throat. The color and substance dance in the hot sun.
