We named this for the late John Kirkland, from Augusta, Georgia. John was a a good friend and husband to his beloved "Miss Brenda". He brought mirth him on his visits and is missed. His namesake is a sunfast, pink peony style double, with orchid midrib and a tiny sawtooth edge. Strongly recurrent. It is very fertile, with untapped potential for breeding.
