Nellie Rarick Memorial(Morss 2013) Height: 30”, Flower size: 4.85”, Season: Early-Mid, Rebloom: Yes, Ploidy: Tetraploid, Branches: 3, Buds: 22, Bloom Habit: Extended, Foliage: Semi-Evergreen
Named for Nellie Rarick, whose love for daylilies and support for the AHS were an inspiration and a catalyst for the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in Owensboro, Kentucky. The color is cattleya orchid or Concord grape violet with a watermark eyezone in patterned zones of blue-lavender and violet. Some days a flying dove pattern seems to appear within the watermark (between one of the many shifting layers of color zones) pattern. A strong ivory stripe bisects the throat and eyezone, repeated on the saw tooth petal edges. The form is wide open and recurves somewhat as the season progresses. The scapes have three way branching and are strongly recurrent. Both pod and pollen are fertile.
